Four longtime female friends, now in their 40s, examine their current lives (accomplishments, failures, challenges, dreams both fulfilled and unrealized) by reflecting on their 20s and how choices in their youth, for better or worse, laid the foundation for who they are today. Though primarily set in the present, the story is interspersed with devices such as flashbacks and apparitional visits from their younger selves.
